becoming a certified padi divemaster

The PADI Divemaster Course is the first level of the PADI Professional rating. As a PADI Divemaster, you will hold the minimum rating for professional employment in the diving industry. Your qualification will allow you to supervise recreational diving activities (either boat or land-based), work as an instructional assistant on all PADI courses and is just one step away from a PADI Instructor rating.

Our 19-day course is a combination of theoretical classroom sessions along with practical application sessions, covering a variety of pool and open water PADI courses. Your course includes two, three-day liveaboard trips on board Pro Dive Cairns, where you will complete up to 20 dives (a mix of compulsory and recreational).

Please Note: some medical conditions may prevent you diving and you will be required to complete a waiver and medical statement prior to the trip. If you have recently/continue to suffer from an illness or condition that may affect your dive fitness,  or currently taking any prescription medication, you will need to consult a doctor for a 'fit to dive' medical certificate.

Amazing dive course and liveaboards

We did two liveaboard trips with ProDive Cairns, almost back to back, including doing my Open Water Dive Course. Both trips were well organised, the gear was all great, the staff were fun and of course all the dive sites were incredible. Our second trip was the Minke Whale trip and we were lucky enough to spend about 7 hours with the whales, pretty much getting in and out of the water as much as we wanted. For the open water course my instructor, Michael, was super patient and thorough got me from nervous in the swimming pool to even going on to do the Adventure course in the space of 5 days. Even the food was great on both trips. Would highly recommend ProDive Cairns to anyone who wants to see the reef or learn to dive.

Great experience and diving

Fantastic and well organised trip. I was doing my Advanced Open Water and Nitrox course (good combination!), and the diving and dive sites were great. Plenty of yummy food, and the crew looked after us really well. Particular shout out to Caleb as the AOW instructor - educative and in control without micro-managing - and Kevin as supervisor, who was equal parts entertaining and informative.

Turtles and sharks!

An excellent diving experience! We were onboard the silverswift boat. The weather was fairly average and rainy for most of the day but the dive sites were excellent - great visibility and lots to see. Spotted white tipped sharks, a turtle, clownfish, Māori wrasse, parrot fish and loads more. We dived at Flynn’s reef and coral gardens. Great diving team and support crew, well prepared for each dive and supportive throughout. Lunch was delicious and they gave everyone assistance when unwell onboard as it was a fairly rough ride to the sites. Highly recommend pro dive as we’ve used them in the past.
